What is the 24-month handoff?

The 24-month handoff is the point where the code buyout fee is waived: after 24 paid months on a managed plan, the code becomes yours. A month you didn't pay doesn't count toward the 24, and it doesn't reset the count. The count pauses and picks back up when the plan does.

Buyout is available at any point before that at a rate that decreases the longer you stay on the managed plan.
